These terms cover littleprelude.com and our booking platform. By joining as a family, or by being listed as an artist, you agree to them.
We have written this in plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, write to us and ask before you agree to it.
Little Prelude LLC is a New York City referral service. We introduce families to independent artist-caregivers and provide a platform where bookings and payments are arranged.
We are not a childcare provider, and we are not an employer. We do not employ, supervise, direct, schedule, or compensate the artists we list. Artists run their own practices. They set their own rates, choose which bookings to accept, set their own availability, and decide how they work.
We vet carefully, and we say what our vetting covers. Vetting reduces risk. It does not remove it, and nothing here is a promise about how any person will behave.
Membership is $1,750 per year, charged when you join, before we match you. It buys access to our listed artists and the booking platform, personal matchmaking by our founder, and member pricing on group classes.
It does not buy care. You engage artists separately and pay them for their time.
Your membership renews automatically each year at the same price unless you cancel. Founding families keep $1,750 for as long as they stay members, whatever the price becomes for everyone else.
If we cannot introduce you to an artist who suits your family within thirty days of joining, we refund your membership in full.
Payments to artists run through our booking platform. You pay the artist’s rate, and nothing is added to it. Artists pay us a referral fee out of what they earn, which is a matter between them and us.
You run your own business. You set your own rates. You accept or decline any booking for any reason. You set your own availability, your own methods, and your own cancellation terms. There is no exclusivity: work with anyone else you like, including families you find yourself.
You are not our employee. We do not pay you wages, provide benefits, carry workers' compensation or unemployment insurance for you, or issue you employment tax forms. Your taxes are yours.
For each family we introduce you to, you pay a referral fee on what you earn from that family. It is settled through the platform as each booking is paid, so you never have to send us anything separately.
The fee is 20% during your first year listed with us, counted from the day your listing goes live. From the first day of your second year it becomes 15%, and it stays there for as long as you remain listed, across every family you work with, new or existing.
There is no listing fee, no annual fee, and nothing to pay before you earn. If you take no bookings, you owe us nothing.
You set them, and we show them on your profile so families see them before they book. We do not set cancellation rules for you and we do not charge a cancellation fee of our own.
Bookings between a family and an artist we introduced run through the platform. That is how artists are paid and how referral fees are settled, and it is the only way the work of finding, vetting, and matching is paid for.
For twelve months after we introduce a family and an artist to each other, bookings between them belong on the platform. If they are arranged around it, we may invoice the referral fee that would have applied, end a membership, or remove a listing.
This is not about controlling who you work with. After twelve months, or if either of you leaves Little Prelude, you are free to continue however you like, and we will not ask for anything.
Before we list an artist we ask for written consent to a background check by a screening company we will name. You may decline, and we will simply not list you.
If we decide not to list someone because of something the report says, we will give them a copy of it and a summary of their rights first, and a chance to respond, before we make that decision final.
Care happens between a family and an artist. Little Prelude is not responsible for the acts or omissions of either.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, or punitive damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
You agree to cover us against claims, losses, and costs arising from your own conduct, from a booking you made or accepted, from your engagement of an artist or a family, or from your breach of these terms.
If we change them we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant and affects you, we will tell you directly and tell you how to cancel if you would rather not accept it.
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York. Any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in New York County, New York.
