These terms cover littleprelude.com and our booking platform. By joining as a family, or by being listed as an artist, you agree to them.
We have written this in plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, write to us and ask before you agree to it.
Little Prelude LLC is a New York City childcare and music-lesson referral agency. We introduce families to artist-caregivers and music instructors and provide a platform to arrange introductions, bookings and payments.
Little Prelude does not itself provide in-home childcare. Families choose whom to engage and agree upon the work to be performed. Artists choose which opportunities to accept and set their requested rates and availability. A family may have household-employer obligations under applicable law, regardless of labels used on this website.
We vet carefully, and we say what our vetting covers. Vetting reduces risk. It does not remove it, and nothing here is a promise about how any person will behave.
Families may choose annual ($1,250 every 12 months), semiannual ($700 every six months), or monthly ($150 each month) membership when paid enrollment opens. Membership includes access to our artist network, a family account in the Little Prelude booking app, requests for introductions and bookings for childcare or private lessons, and member rates for group music classes.
Membership does not include childcare or private lessons at no charge. Bookings depend on artist availability. Group classes are $35 per child for active members and $55 per child for nonmembers.
When paid enrollment opens, your selected plan will renew at the corresponding monthly, six-month or annual interval unless cancelled under the checkout terms. Your billing dates, renewal terms and cancellation options will be presented before you buy. Applicable renewal notices will be sent by email or through your account.
The details of refunds, cancellation effective dates and any changes in plan pricing will be included in the final membership agreement presented at enrollment. Paid enrollment is not currently available.
We take care with every introduction, and will suggest alternative artists when possible if an introduction is not right for your family. Membership does not guarantee a particular placement or a specific number of fulfilled bookings.
Artists choose their rates for childcare and private lessons. The family app shows the total price payable for each requested booking before you confirm. Payment details, including any agency service charge, are provided in the booking process and the relevant agreements. Bookings are separate from membership dues.
Each membership includes access to our artist network and family booking app, the ability to request childcare or private lessons, and preferred pricing on group music classes.
Childcare and private lessons are priced separately. The rate you see in the app is the total booking rate. All requests are subject to artist availability. Membership enrollment will open when licensing is complete.
You decide which opportunities to accept, set your requested rates and availability, and may also work with families outside Little Prelude. Your relationship with a family, including any household-employment responsibilities, depends on the actual arrangement and applicable law.
Little Prelude acts as a referral and booking agency rather than the direct provider of childcare. Artist and family responsibilities, including any employment-related obligations, are addressed in the applicable agreements and under law.
Artists choose the rates they request for their work and receive their agreed compensation under the applicable booking terms. Booking and payment details are shown in the app and applicable agreements.
You set them, and we show them on your profile so families see them before they book. We do not set cancellation rules for you and we do not charge a cancellation fee of our own.
Bookings arranged through Little Prelude are intended to be documented and paid through the booking platform. Families see the total rate before booking, and artists receive their agreed compensation according to the booking terms.
Knowingly moving bookings obtained through Little Prelude outside the platform in violation of an applicable agreement may result in ending platform access or an artist listing, subject to the governing agreement and applicable law. No separate charge is imposed on artists for an off-platform booking.
Artists remain free to pursue work outside Little Prelude. Terms relating to introductions made through the agency are governed by the applicable signed agreements.
Before we list an artist we ask for written consent to a background check by a screening company we will name. You may decline, and we will simply not list you.
If we decide not to list someone because of something the report says, we will give them a copy of it and a summary of their rights first, and a chance to respond, before we make that decision final.
Care happens between a family and an artist. Little Prelude is not responsible for the acts or omissions of either.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, or punitive damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
You agree to cover us against claims, losses, and costs arising from your own conduct, from a booking you made or accepted, from your engagement of an artist or a family, or from your breach of these terms.
If we change them we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant and affects you, we will tell you directly and tell you how to cancel if you would rather not accept it.
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York. Any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in New York County, New York.
